Aww I loved your interpretation of it. To be frank, I was initially with loads of people who critiqued the movie for not portraying Africa as we know it. But thats us looking from the outside. They do it with the middle east too, and we’re always like THATS NOT US WE ARE MORE THAN THAT. So I related immediately. But, I see your point clearly now. Also, I wrote an article about a 10 year old refugee who left home when he was ten, and could never grow up past ten. Maybe this is what Africa means to African Americans, what it symbolises before they were forced to leave. That memory.
