The first time I traveled to a Spanish-speaking country, I was oblivious that my name, Nada, literally means nothing.

I am not sure why my friends taught me how to say, “Hello, how are you? How much? Where am I?” in Spanish but forgot to mention that my name means nothing.

It started at passport control when the officer greeted me with:
